Personal Protection Inside The Home Course
Your family and their protection is important to you. We understand that.
Course overview:
The NRA's Personal Protection Inside the Home Course is meant to develop the basic
knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a firearm for
protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding citizen's right
to self-defense.
This course is one full 8-hour day. This course may be taken by law-abiding citizens, as
defined by applicable federal, state, or local law.
The practical shooting exercises are conducted at an outdoor range. Please dress
appropriately. Eye and ear protection is required. We recommend a high-necked shirt.
Hot brass can cause blisters. Flip-flops, sandals, and bare feet will not be allowed. You must
wear full-coverage shoes such as tennis shoes.
If you are pregnant or nursing, we will require a written doctor's authorization allowing
you to shoot and handle ammunition.

This course is for experienced shooters as proved by:
Attended the CCDW Training Course From Aimwell Academy LLC
OR
An NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate
OR
An NRA Pistol Competitive Shooting Qualification Card
OR
A Military DD-214 with Pistol Qualifications
OR
Passing the Pre-Course Assessment Test
The Pre-Course Assessment Test covers the following:
- Stating & Demonstrating the three fundamental Rules for Safe Gun Handling
- Demonstrating the proper loading, cocking, uncocking, and unloading procedures with
the pistol you will use during the course - Demonstrating the ability to shoot groups with the pistol from a supported position at
a distance of 15 feet. You will shoot three five-shot groups, each of which can be
covered by a circle 9" in diameter, anywhere on a blank target. - Zero a pistol from a supported position at 15 feet by shooting a five-shot group on a
bullseye target, then determining the sight adjustment needed to move the group to
the center, making the sight change, and shooting a confirming group - Demonstrate how to properly clean a pistol safely.
Failure to successfully complete the Pre-Course Assessment will result in the forfeiture of
your deposit due to the time & expenses involved for the NRA Certified
Instructor to conduct the assessment test.

- Selecting a Pistol for Self-Defense
- Sport Shooting Activities and Training Opportunities
You will need to provide:
- A notebook
- A pen and highlighter
- Eye and ear protection
- Your pistol *
- 100 Rounds of ammunition (minimum) **
*Firearms are not provided you must bring your own.
**You may bring more ammunition if you desire. You can fire more than 100 rounds if
time permits.
Live ammunition is not allowed in the classroom.
Course Materials, a Completion Certificate, and Range Fees are included in the
$150 course fee. There is a $50 (minimum) non-refundable deposit required for
registration. If you are unable to attend the class after registering, this deposit will be
applied to your next registration.
